More than 200 participants from over 160 mainstream media outlets, think tanks, government departments and other institutions from China and 41 African countries, as well as representatives from the African Union, gathered for in-depth exchanges under the theme “Reforming Global Governance: New Roles and Visions for China-Africa Cooperation”.

CHN Energy has long been committed to exploring new pathways for sustainable energy development and international cooperation. Guided by the vision of “Empowering the World Through Energy, Creating a Greener Future”, the Group contributes Chinese wisdom to global energy governance. It stands ready to work with all partners to develop more green energy projects, share its experience in clean energy development, power system construction and talent cultivation, and support African countries in enhancing energy security, jointly strengthening the development resilience and voice of the Global South.

At the closed-door roundtable session Global South · China-Africa Lounge, the Group’s representative shared insights and practices on sustainable energy development in South Africa under the theme “Empowering the World Through Energy, Creating a Greener Future”.

During the Global South Talks storytelling session, the Group’s representative, together with three local South African speakers, recounted vivid stories about how the Longyuan De Aar Wind Power Project has improved local livelihoods and advanced wind power technologies. Deswin, a local employee who completed his studies with support from the project and later joined Longyuan South Africa, shared his personal journey of gaining professional skills through the Group’s training system and achieving a breakthrough in his career. “The De Aar Wind Power Project gave me more than a job,” he said. “It gave me hope, goals and a brighter future.” The Group’s real-life stories, delivered with sincerity, drew warm applause from the audience.

From the five dimensions of Excellence, Practicality, Impact, Synergy and Shared Growth, the report illustrates how the De Aar Wind Power Project has supported South Africa’s economic development and energy transition, offering Chinese wisdom and solutions for advancing high-quality global energy cooperation and building a closer China-Africa community of shared future.
